Mallorca Holiday Rentals: Discover the beaches in Mallorca: Alcudia, Cala d’Or, Puerto de Andrat, Magaluf
For those who are already in Majorca (Mallorca in Spanish) and for those who are planning to go there. Even for anybody who hasn’t been in the Balearic islands and want to discover the Mediterranean island.
Alcudia Beach
The beach of Alcudia is fantastic, especially for children. A long bay with fine white sand. Shallow and clear water. All kinds of water sports including water ski, jet ski and paragliding. The snorkelling conditions are all in all poor, the best spot is along the coast protection close to the harbour (picture number two). All kind of restaurants along the beach and some in fact direct on the beach. Quality and prices are reasonable.
Cala d’Or
It has five beautiful but small beaches: Cala Gran, Cala D’Or, Cala Esmaralda, Cala Ferrera, and Cala Serena. It is possible to rent pedal boats at Cala Gran and Cala Ferrera. Rent of windsurfing equipment nearby at Cala Esmeralda. Diving from Cala Ferrera. Very good snorkeling conditions along the cliffs. Crystal clear water and lots of colourful fish!
Puerto de Andratx
It iis especially pleasing because it is very exclusive and not known yet to the packaged holiday clients. This beach is in close proximity with the beaches of Camp de Mar and that of San Telm, which is sheltered by Dragoneraisland.
Cala Millor
The beach of Cala Millor is very touristic and one of the most crowded beaches on Mallorca. The beach is large with fine-grained white sand and is by many considered to be one of the best apart from being very crowded. Fine white sand, gently slope and shallow water make this a good beach for children.
Magaluf
It is situated on the south west coast of Mallorca – seven kilometres from Calvià. The official name of the beach is Platja de Magaluf. All kinds of water sports including water ski, jet ski, banana-riding, pedal boats and paragliding. There is even a water ski training school. It presents its magnificent beach with fine sand and crystal clear waters and much tourist development. Banana-riding is the much-loved activity on this beach. The beach is approximately 900 meters long, and it is one of the biggest British tourist beaches on the island well-known for its nightlife.
Portals Nous
It is a small beach between budding urban developments. Mostly used by the yachtsmen and their guests from Puerto Portals yacht club, one can also find plenty of restaurants, bars, and shopping centers in the area.
Palma Nova beach
It boasts of superb fine sand, pine groves and on-going tourist development
Santa Ponsa beach
It is located 20 kilometres west of Palma de Mallorca. Close to Magaluf and Palma Nova. The beach of Santa Ponsa is sandy and the water clear. The pine trees offers pleasant shadow during the hottest hours.
Illetes
Two coves of some 75 and 150 meters wide. Pine trees stretch as far as the shore which has excellent sand.
Peguera beach
It is an interesting tourist resort. It is beautiful, quiet, and with fine sand surrounded by pine trees. Peguera (Pagera) is one of the older and well known beach resorts on the South West part of Mallorca. It is mainly visited by continental Europeans. There are 3 beaches. 2 big and one small.
Cala Fornells
It is small beach with fine sand near Peguera. 100 meters long and 6 meters wide. Sun chairs can be hired. As there are hotels nearby and many summer houses in the area, this place is best visited outside the high season.
Sóller
There is a major stream which separates the commercial area of the port from the beach known as Platja d’en Repic . This beach is long (1’100 metres) and very narrow (13 marts), and is mainly a very light shingle beach. The usual attractions are available, such as sun beds, pedalos and first aid, but you also can take boat trips from this beach. The city beach also called ‘Port’ runs alongside the harbour road with some lovely seafront restaurants. The first small part of the beach is quite good but the rest is narrow and covered with gravel and small stones. Port de Sóller is situated in the north-western of Mallorca on the coastline of ‘Serra de Tramuntana’ which surrounds the city with steep mountains.
Playa Mago
It was the first nudist beach on Mallorca. Located some 4 kilometers south from Magaluff, the waters are clear and there is a restaurant where you can sit and enjoy the shade. The beach is very small and the parking is limited, so it is best to be there before 11:00 if you have a private vehicle.
