Folkdance Festival in Palma de Mallorca
The World Folkdance Festival is a great excuse to fly to Palma de Mallorca. This festival brings together different and very divers cultures through music and dance from April 10th to 14th. This festival started in 1985 in Munich and since then thousands of dancers from more than 67 countries have graced the stages and brought delight to audiences.
From 1987 onwards, the event has been held in Palma de Mallorca to where, participants from all parts of the world have travelled to perform their ancient craft. In 1989, for instance 65 groups arrived with over 1.500 participants and in 1991, the numbers reached more than 2.000 dancers and musicians performing.
Spectators can admire from the delicate movements of the Oriental Bharata Natya and the Bugaku to the Zulu war dances.
