Menorca - Port of Maó-Cala Sant Esteve
If you visit Menorca, don’t miss the beautiful coastline trail surrounding the port of Maó. You can walk it in around 2 hours and its well worth the 4km stretch. Starting at the docks in the port of Maó, follow the coastline to Cala Figuera and continue to the village of Castell, where Cala Corb is located. The stretch proceeds to Cala Fonts which is a popular tourist area with many cafés and restaurants. After Cala Fonts, the trail moves inland away from the coastline to around the Santa Ana residential estate, but then re-continues the coastal road until reaching Cala Sant Esteve, at the mouth of the natural harbour of Maó. The city of Maó is the capital of Menorca and the largest natural harbour in the Med. Its intimate streets are lined with handicraft shops, cafés and quaint teahouses influenced by the period of English rule. A typical outdoor market can be visited every Tuesday and Saturday morning in Plaza de la Esplanada. The region is also home to the village of Castell de Sant Felip - the most easterly point in Spain which is an unusual Georgian-style village with houses built during George III’s reign.
