Rare Picasso Exhibition in Mallorca

Side view of Palma Cathedral

Picasso lovers will be interested to hear that The Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art in Palma de Mallorca is currently hosting an exhibition on the graphic work of Picasso, in collaboration with Bancaja, Valencia.

The exhibition brings together 108 engravings and 25 books by different authors, illustrated by the legendary artist, with techniques that go from chalcographic engraving, linoleum and lithography to photoengraving and offset printing. Some are deluxe editions accompanied by separate folders of etchings, also on display at the event. Throughout his career, Picasso illustrated books by a broad range of authors, from classical Greek writers to his own contemporaries, either for publishing houses, or as a favour for certain friends. All the pieces on display are taken from the Bancaja Collection, home to the largest collection of Picasso’s graphic works to be found in a private institution.
