Flexing its liberal muscle, Barcelona hosts the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival from 5-15 October in the Mercat de Les Flors. The event follows a strong tradition of documentary festivals in Barcelona at this time of year such as In-Edit and Docuopolis and features many films in their original language with Catalan subtitles. There are awards for best short film and best feature film, and people’s choice. The programme includes five sections: Official Features and Official Short Films, the Stonewall Section, the Thematic Section and the Special Sessions.
