Gracia Festival
Probably Barcelona’s biggest and most colourful street party, the Festa de Gracia gets underway on 15th August for one week transforming the small streets into a festival of colour, music, food and dance. Barcelona’s most bohemian neighbourhood was once a village seperated from the city itself and the independent spirit is never in more evidence than during this festival. Each street competes against the next one in order to win the “Best of Show” prize. The most spectacular efforts usually centre around Carrer Verdi where themes range from social and political satire, to Gracias historical past. Make sure you don’t miss this because due to noise complaints and the expense, the local council debates every year whether to discontinue the event.

Hola. I am from Australia and I was at the Festival for four nights and had an absolutely awesome time. My only regret was not buying a T shirt that I could take home with me to remember it all. Would you know anyway I can get one even now the festival is over? I onlky have one day left in Barcelona and I have so far not been able to find one. Gracias.
Maxwell.
