Sonar 2007 is back in Barcelona
Sonar is back in the city. This progressive music and multimedia arts festival takes place every year in Barcelona at the beginning of the summer, and now that the sun is out heating the beaches it is time for some fun. June 14th, 15th and 16th are the dates for Sonar 2007. For the first time, Sonar 2007 nocturnal activities will start on the SonarPark stage, located at Fira Gran Via (M2). First up will be a double concert by Beastie Boys in their instrumental guise, and Ricardo Villalobos’ improvised techno project Narod Niki. You can’t miss this double date, rent an apartment in Barcelona and join the party.
As a result, SonarPark takes over from L’Auditori as the major venue for the opening night’s events. L’Auditori will continue to host some of the festival’s exclusive performances. This year, the concerts programmed at this venue will be held on Friday evening. The line-up consists of Alexander’s Annexe feat. Mira Calix on one hand, and on the other, a collaboration between Francesco Tristano Schlimé and Fernando Corona (aka Murcof).

Sónar By Night hosts some of the biggest names in electronic and avante garde music.
MACBA and CosmoCaixa include a program of works expressly conceived for 5.1 sound systems. Employing high definition sound equipment they guarantee a surprising sensory experience. One same program in two different locations that explore the creative possibilities offered by the 5.1 and that indulge in the relationship between sound and space, one of the big themes that cuts through Sonar 2007.
