Venetian art in Barcelona
If you would had been a tourist in the 18th century you would had visited Venice, the European city which was considered to be setting a number of trends. But, since you live in the 21st century, your destination is Barcelona, a city that recognizes Venetian art re-tracing its creativity in the exhibition `Business and Passion: Venetian Art in the 17th and 18th centuries’ at La Pedrera.
Based on historical sources, this exhibition offers the fundamental features of painting in Venice and its contributions to European art. The exhibition counts with more than a hundred works; paintings, drawings, etchings, sculptures and books.
The exhibition demonstrates the vitality of the Venetian Republic over 300 years of its history, a period in which, despite political and social-economic decline, it continued to project its legendary magnificence and splendour through the genius of its artists.
Some of the paintings you can see at this exhibition are: ‘A Girl Wearing Pearl Drop Earrings and a Black Lace Chocker’ by Pietro Antoni Rotari, ‘Oil on Canvas’ by Giandomenico Tiepolo, and ‘Homage to a Crowned Punchinello’ by Giambattista Tiepolo.
