Travelling in the Canary Islands: Discover the Almond Flower Route

The Tenth Edition of the Almond Flower Route is coming up. Are you in the Canary Islands next weekend? Then you shouldn’t miss it! This walk through the higher areas of Santiago del Teide, on an old footpath that runs from the village center to Arguayo is organized by the Council of Culture at Santiago del Teide Town Hall, the Council for the Environment of the Tenerife Island Corporation, the Teno Rural Park, the company El Cardón and the Los Poleos association.

This year there are two guided walks on Saturday and Sunday for anybody who is interested in admiring the spectacular sight of hundreds of almond trees, with their white blossoms and blue tinted leaves in a path that is marked by the lava flows left by the eruption of the Chincheyo volcano in 1909. It is an easy walk which can take around four hours (9am to 13pm).
If you take your camera with you and get nice pictures of your work you can also participate in the Tenth Almond in Flower Photo Contest, which has top prize of €300. Also, all of the entries will be exhibited in the patio of Santiago del Teide’s Town Hall between March 9th and 23rd - making a nice visit also for those who cannot make the walks.
