Fuengirola Festival
The Ciudad de Fuengirola Festival will be held at the spectacular Sohail Castle this year on Friday 7, 14, 21 and 28 July, beginning with the staging of ‘Carmen’ by Aída Gómez’s Spanish Dance Company. On Friday 14, Diana Navarro - a Málaga born artist nominated for six Spanish Academy of Music Awards - will also perform and on 21 July, Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucía will give a concert at the Moorish garrison-turned-auditorium. In July, de Lucía will play in Fuengirola on route to the rest of the world including Croatia, Japan (Tokyo), Serbia (Belgrade), Bosnia Herzegovina (Sarajevo), Spain (alongside Fuengirola, Vitoria-Gasteiz), Switzerland, the Netherlands (Rotterdam), Poland (Warsaw) and France (Lyon). On 28 July, the programme will come to a close with a show by Pópera, a successful young band offering a fusion of opera and pop and thus bringing the former style closer to the public. Tickets for this festival can be bought at the Fuengirola House of Culture and at the Candilejas record store in Málaga as of next Monday, priced at between 50 or 60 euros for Paco de Lucía’s concerts and 20-25 euros for the other three shows.
