Jazz-Flamenco Fusion Festival
Each summer, San Sebastian and Vitoria-Gasteiz host the Vitoria Jazz Festival and the San Sebastián Music Fortnight - two of the most vibrant cultural events in Spain. These are amongst Europe’s most important international music festivals for their high-quality programme and the prestige of the artists taking part. In 2006, exclusive performances await from world-renowned artists and some unique settings. During the prestigious festival, the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz will, play host to live performances by major stars of jazz music and up and coming young artists of the genre. This year there one of the highlights will be the bringing together of flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía and Wynton Marsalis, regarded as the most outstanding trumpet player of his generation. The Festivals are not just limited to concerts however. You can also experience it on the street, with the good-time jazz of the New Orleans bands that parade through the city, or by night, at improvised jam sessions at clubs. Every night, into the early hours, these clubs offer you the chance to hear musicians who do not usually play together.
