The Valencia Modern Art Institute is currently conducting an interesting exchange project with the Deste Foundation according to the Spanish Tourist Board. The non-profit making institution was created in 1983 by the international art collector, Dakis Joannou, and aims to exhibit and promote contemporary art, studying its relationships with other forms of contemporary culture, organising exhibitions, conferences and educational programmes. The foundation has become an important point of reference source of inspiration for artists around Spain. Furthermore, it helps to bring together many different strands of contemporary art which includes the whole spectrum of artistic disciplines. The current exhibition takesa closer look at the work of Julio González and Pinazo. The interior of the building houses part of the Medieval wall that protected the city of Valencia, brought down a century ago and the aim of the institute is to research and promote 20th century art. The activities offered include ongoing collections, temporary exhibitions, conferences, courses, workshops and publications.
