Valencian Noche de Zurra
Another unmissable festival in Valencia this summer is in the town of Requena which stages one of the strangest festivals in Spain to celebrate the beginning of the grape harvest. Known as La Fiesta de la Vendimia, one of the highlights is the Noche de Zurra, featuring a bizarre ritual where everyone takes to the street and soaks each other with whatever they can get their hands on. Most impoirtantly, the event also gives visitors the opportunity to taste wine from the first pressing, as well as featuring a parade of fruit and flowers.
