Villaralto Fair
Villaralto in Cordoba launches its biggest party of the year from 10-15th August with its annual fair. In typical Spanish style, the festival starts off quietly enough with music and singing in honour of the town’s patron - the Virgin of Buensucceso. Soon however, a heady programme of folk music, dancing and even bull burning takes place. The tradition formerly involved people attaching torches of fire to the bulls’ horns to watch it bolt across the town in a frenzy. However, the town have now substituted real bulls for a metalic one which serves as a platform for fireworks and rockets.
