Howard Hodgkin Exhibition

Brits will be pleased to learn that the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid is hosting an exhibition of artwork by Howard Hodgkin until mid-January. It is the first retrospective exhibition on Hodgkin in Spain, and is being organised in collaboration with the Tate Britain and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin. It offers an exhaustive look at all the different periods that have gone to define the career of this enduring artist. Hodgkin’s work is an abstract representation of personal experiences and memories and is known for his expertise on the history of art. His work is often compared with great European artists who painted with a poetic use of light and colour, such as Matisse, Vuillard, Corot and Degas.
