Tintoretto Paradise Exhibition
Madrid’s Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is currently presenting the exhibition “Tintoretto - Paradise” as part of its Contexts of the Permanent Collection season. The context of the exhibition is the end of the 16th century, when the Republic of Venice convened two contests for paintings to decorate the Great Council Hall of the Ducal Palace. Pieces were submitted by the most outstanding Venetian artists of the time, with the works of Tintoretto, VeronĂ©s, Palma the Younger and Bassano being conserved. The exhibition brings together these works, all large format like Tintoretto’s Paradise (164 x 492 cm), which belongs to the museum’s collection, giving an idea of the sheer size of these pieces and the exceptional nature of the exhibition which runs until the end of this month.
