Madrid Opera Season

Madrid’s annualopera season has recently opened and Madrid’s Teatro Real stages productions featuring the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and Choir, visiting soloists and conductors and co-productions with various opera companies from around Europe. This season will include Janácek’s From the House of the Dead, a co-production with the Opéra National de Paris; Verdi’s Luisa Miller, a San Francisco Opera production; Strauss’ Die Ägyptische Helena; Puccini’s La Bohème; Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail, a production from the Aix en Provence Festival (2003); Poulenc’s Diálogues des Carmélites, a Nederlandse Opera de Amsterdam production, and Arrieta’s La Conquista de Granada. There will also be new productions of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore.
