Benasque
Benasque is a pretty village of around 1400 inhabitants located at the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees and is located just 4km from the ever popular Cerler ski resort. The village features some amazingly well preserved buildings from the gothic period including the impressive Palacio de Ribagorza which dates from the XIV century. During the summer it becomes a popular hiking and recreational resort but at the moment, it makes a rewarding stop-off if you are skiing in Cerler. Note that the Benasque valley still preserves its own language - “Benasqués” - which is a heady mix of Spanish, Catalan and French.
