Skiing in the Catalan Pyrenees: Vall de Nuria Sky Resort
Only for sky lovers. I would like to continue my serie of recommendations about skiing in the Catalan Pyrenees with an special about Vall de Nuria. This small ski resort, accessible by funicular railway that departs from Ribes de Freser, is located just north of Barcelona. It is a good station for families with children, so rent an apartment in the Catalan Pyrenees and prepare your sky trip.
The Vall de Nuria ski resort is situated at 2,000 metres above sea level, surrounded by peaks close to 3,000 metres that form the backdrop of a huge natural amphitheatre. The journey by funicular covers 12,5 km, climbing 1,000 metres in 40 minutes. The ski resort has 10 pistes for downhill skiing to suit all levels.
